Small Backyard Wedding in Hanford, CA
COVID couldn't stop Katherine and Andrew from having a beautiful small backyard wedding at their home in Hanford, CA.
K + A both have big families and wanted to be able to have everybody attend if possible. Which, during a normal year, is totally great and doable right? But their wedding was planned during COVID, of course, which put a little (large) dent in the planning process.
So instead of holding their wedding at a venue, where they wouldn't be able to have everyone attend, they decided to invite their loved ones to their home for an intimate, small backyard wedding. And it couldn't have turned out more beautifully.
Backyard weddings are some of my favorites because of how special it is to celebrate at your home, or at the home of one of your loved ones.
Mr. & Mrs. - The Outfits
I love seeing the outfits my different couples choose to wear because they're always unique and personal to them. Katherine wore a beautiful gown from BHLDN: a simple white silk dress with deep triangular cutouts on the sides, paired with a long veil.
Andrew went for a classic, sharp black and white look with a black bowtie and white pocket square. His red and orange boutonniere brought out the autumn colors they were dreaming of for their October wedding in the perfect way!
The Big Day
Having a backyard wedding ceremony and reception is the best because you're able to do everything in a personal, intimate setting. From getting ready to their first look to the reception, Katherine and Andrew had a blast the whole day and were intentional about taking it alllll in.
There was a moment before the ceremony when Andrew and Katherine strolled through their reception area with complete delight and excitement, repeating over and over “holy cow this is OUR wedding!" And they spent the entire day just soaking in every single moment. Not stressed about anything at all.
